Rings or Valves

Can someone tell me if there is a way to tell if the oil that is fouling my spark plugs comes from the oil control rings or is leaking by the intake valves. I have minimal blowby but I continue to foul out #3 and #4 plugs. I have a '50 8n that had a valve job done by a reputible mechanic two years ago but I am wondering if maybe he left the O rings out of a couple of the lifters. The tractor has good power, has a little blue smoke when I gun the engine but hardly any when I am hogging with it, but it fouls the plugs on a regular basis. Any help will be appreciated.
thanks

Rings. Either the rings are worn or lost tension from overheating or the cylinder is work beyond specs.

Needs rebuilding.

PJ..... ....since the 8N has a flathead engine, it is very difficult for engine oil to get sucked up the valve stem to foul your sparkies.

Best way to tell is a compression test dry then wet, 5 puffs min and writter down. The squirt in some oil (about 1 oz or 1 spoonful) and tester again. If'n ya gotts bad rings, wet compression will go up 20-30 psi over the dry reading. If'n ya gotts bad valves, compression won't hardly increase.

Recommend you use the hotter AutoLite AL-437 sparkies for better oil fouling resistance..... ....Dell
