Tried several 8-N dealer, with no luck on info. on spring hook-up. It goes from clutch housing clip to bottom throttle shaft, where throttle lever arm is attached, with ball pin on end of it for gov. rod. Can not fine any hole in arm or shaft? Thanks 52-8N

Ron..... ...p/n 8N-9807, throttle control rod lever assy, 3 3/4" long. Visual description would have the ball studd at one end, pinch-bolt scheme in middle, and short tab with spring hole in opposite end.

Caution: NAA-9807-C is somewhat simular EXCEPT it does NOT have the spring tab on opposite end.

Theres alotta 8N's out there without the compensator spring, and they're working just fine. I couldn't tell the difference in operation of my 8N after I lost/broke the rusty ol'spring and after I put a new compensator spring in..... .Dell

I just put one on the other night. The hole was on the horiz. arm on the other side of the vertical shaft opposite the governer rod connection. This is up near the base of the steering box. It was tough to get to and I had to bend the end of the spring to slip it in the hole. I removed the air cleaner cup to make it a little easier. It made a difference for me when going quickly from high RPM back to idle. It used to bounce around and almost die. BUT I also rebuilt the governer so I can't say for sure which did it.
