First Apparent Error - Axle Trumpet Gasket Seepage

I've been pretty lucky novice until now. Rebuilt the steering, trans, rearend, brakes, and axle - all seemed well. Unfortunately, even though the axle trumpets and center housing were "surgically clean" before placing the gasket and attaching the trumpets to the housing, I now have a slight seepage of 90 weight trans oil. Didn't use a sealer. I spoke to some folks at a highly regarded N parts and restoration company in Indiana and found they always use a light coating of sealer on the axle trumpet gasket. Ouch!! I'm not getting a lot of seepage - maybe the equivalent of a drop on the garage floor over a period of one week. Is anyone else getting that after a rebuild? I sure hate to take those axle trumpets off again!
Consider the possibility of using sealer.

Rick..... ...It probably isn't yer gasket, you did swipe it with warm water, didn't you?

Most likely, one of your trumpet studs turned a little loose and is leaking. The studs have a shoulder that is seated against the diffy housing but the stud hole is a thru hole into the oil chamber. If'n it ain't tight, gonnna leak. You only need to tighten up the bottom studs below oil level. Figger out a double nut arrangement (2-fine thread 7/16 thin jamb nuts will do). I'd do that before I'd pull the trumpet..... ..Dell

Dell, Thanks for the suggestion. Yep, I did swipe the gaskets with warm water. I'll check the studs today and let you know if it was the problem. Thanks again.
