Well, I had to do a little repair on my 5-foot brush hog and get a rear tire repaired this weekend.

My youngest son (who still lives at home) just purchased five acres of land about 8 or 10 miles from home. He borrowed my Ford 2310 and (fairly new) International brand brush hog and drove it to his property to do some brush hogging. In the process, he got into some loose fiber optic cable they had apparently been laying next to the road. The cable rapped around the brush hog shaft so tight we couldn’t get it untangled at his property. While he was driving it back home the left rear tire went flat. (Good thing he had his cell phone with him.)

The blade assembly had to be removed from the gearbox shaft to get the fiber optic wire untangled. I initially thought it had damaged the oil seal but after cleaning it up good it appeared to be undamaged. The tire had a pretty good size thorn that had apparently punctured the tube.

Now, he needs to buy him a tractor to keep his property cleaned off.:-) Rick H. Ga.

my battery always seems to be dead when I'm not able to go with the tractor to be used.

in other words, I dont loan out my equipment. and in return, i dont borrow anyone else's.

My cousin (47 yr. old) used mine to cut the pasture in front of our house today and hit the left rear fender on a telephone pole. Creased the fender pretty good and bent the footrest a little. I wanted to cry. Could have been worse. It could have been me. I let him off easy. It nearly pinned his leg. Not much room inside the fender. The footrest probably stopped it from pinning his leg. His lesson #1 is- BE CAREFUL ON SLOPES. DON TX
