Hi guy's, I went to my local TSC and bought some sparkies for my 8N. The operators book said to use Champion H-12. The TSC guy said that he sells the Champion H-10 for the 8N to everyone. So I bought the H-10 like he said. I put them in and so far so good. Seems to run OK.
Did I choose the wrong plugs. Does anyone know really which Champion plug to use AND will there be a problem with my tractor in using the H-10 and not the H-12 like the book says?
Thanks....Randy

Randy,
Like the other guys said, the H-12's are what I use in my 8N. The '10's are a little "cold" for the occasional use my tractor gets and tend to foul out a little quicker.

Randy..... ..what Sounder sez..... .and.....
The use of "hotter" sparkies like the Champion H-12 or Autolite AL-437 is recommended over the colder OEM Champion H-10. Hotter plugs will burn-off deposits caused by modern no-lead gasoline or oil fouling deposits from a worn engine. Cold sparkies start ok when new, but unless you're plowing 8 hrs a day, use the hotter plugs. My 8N has 12 year old NGK BP4L's..... .....Dell

Champion h10 was the original specc'd plug.

Nowadays we use a champion h12 or an autolite 437 as it is a bit hotter plug... I guess the thinking is to make up for the modern no-lead fuels...etc.

If it runs good.. just leave em in.. no sense changing them out now... just get h12's or al437 next time. Dell also knows a few more crossover numbers for some other plugs... but I don't have the numbers handy.

If you do an archive search.. for champion, or autolite.. or similar.. I'm sure a few posts mentioning the other plugs will come up..
