Generally speaking, our N tractors have initially high(er) oil pressures cold then taper off till hot ... usually quoted something like : cold idle: 25 / cold throttle: 35 hot idle: 18 / hot throttle: 25 Or something like that. So you are saying that at hot idle, you have pressure in the 10-20 psi range. You are probably in a category with at least a quarter to a third of the people here. Some have reported hot idle pressure nearly 0 on older N's.. like '39 models.. etc. Sounds like you have a typical N engine.. showing its age.. but still functioning. In a perfect world we would like pressures higher than that... but this is reality. What weight oil are you using? Most of us here are using an sae 30 wt detergent oil.. some however are using multi weight oils like a 10w30 as well. If the pressure bothers you and you are not wanting to rebuild it yet.. try either an oil viscosity modifier.. like.. stp.. or engine honey.. lucas products.. etc.. Or on your next oil change got to a higher weight of oil.. like an sae 40... At 10psi hot idle you should still be safe... if it drops lower than that I would do either one of the above. The oil viscosity mod is easy.. just drop it in and observe over the next few uses your oil pressures. If it didn't help like you wanted.. go to the heavier oil on the next change. One last thing... if you think that your oil pressure gauge is faulty.. go grab an auto store cheapy.. like a sunpro.. they are about 9 bucks.. that will verify your pressures, if you think you'rs is reading wrong. Oh yeah.. there are some great oil discussions and articles in the archives. Good luck, Soundguy
