The buddy of mine that sold me my NAA just gave me a bulldozer(diesel)that has been left out in the weeds for about 5 years. It starts right up & runs well, but it had a lot of water emulsified in the crankcase oil. I drained the oil, changed the filter & put fresh oil in, started it up, and the oil is full of water again, I'm sure from the residual left in the crankcase after I drained it the first time. ( And no, the head gasket isn't blown). I'm wondering if flushing it out by running some diesel through it might help, or maybe adding some isopropyl alcohol to absorb the water might help. Anybody have any slick trick suggestions as to the best way to clean this up, short of changing the oil & filter a dozen times ? Thanks

Mike, are you looseing any water from the radiator? You said the head gasket was ok, most diesels have wet liners. They can get pin holes in them do to electralises or detenation. If you can presurize the cooling system to see if you can force water into the crank case. Water is heavier than oil and would be at the bottom drain plug. After it sets over night with pressure on it. If it will hold for that lone, crack the drain plug to see if any oil come out Jim

I agree with Evil.

Up here in the upper part of the US, we always say, "For the rest of the year, if you must start an engine, keep it running until you "burn the water out of the oil".

Mike-

No need to flush it or add alcohol. I'd pull the oil breather cap off and run her for a long awhile. The heat of the engine will turn the water into vapor and exhaust it. Just monitor the amount of water and change the oil after the water is cooked off.
