Loader mounting

Have an off-brand loader with brackets that fit my 8N in the back, but no way to mount it in the front without some serious adapting. I'm thinking that instead of following the usual "N" route of mounting it to something hanging from the front axle pin, it might be easier to bolt it to the front axle just like folks do with bumpers. Any thoughts on whether or not this will work?

NO, it will not work!

The reason being that the front axle has to be able to twist around the axle pin so that BOTH front wheels stay in contact with the ground. The loader will be fastened to the tractor "frame" (ie engine, tranny, and rear axles) so that fastening the front of the loader to the front axle will "lock up" the front axle movement relative to the tractor "frame".

Think of the tractor as being supported by three points, the two rear tires and the front axle pin. Regardless of how rough a surface is you can always contact three points on it for support. You CANNOT always contact in FOUR (ie all four tires) points that maintain the SAME relationship to each other. Simple geometry. Tricycle tractors do not have this problem since the front tires are "essentially" the same point.

Clear?!?

Sorry you are going to have to find some way to fasten to the front of the tractor axle support attached to the engine.

Regards,
Larry
