Has anyone used barley straw in their pond to deter algae growth? And is there any place in Missouri that has it at a reasonable price?

Thanks

Try your nearest feed mill or grain dealer. See if they buy barley from any farmers and go directly to the farmer.

I've read quite a bit on the internet about using Barley Straw; but most of the references and the "Bale" sizes refer to small (<500 gallon) decorator ponds. I would like to try the idea on my 1 acre pond in southern Minnesota. Any sources around that part of the country?

I'm here in north Missouri and I've seen ponds with a couple round bales about half submerged, but I never knew why they were in there.
