Hi All,

I heard a for-sale advertisement yesterday on a local AM radio station swap-buy-and-sell program (while on my lunch hour) that interested me. A man had a 51 or 52 8N with a 5 foot brush hog and a scrape blade for $1500.

Not that I am in the market to buy another 8N (because I have a nice one) but if the opportunity for a good deal on another 8N presented itself, I might be interested.

I called the guy and he said the tractor ran good but looked bad. I got the address (about 3 miles from my home) and told him I would be there a little after 5 o'clock to look at it. When I got off work, I called again to make sure he would be there and he said he had already sold it.

I've learned that when a bargain presents itself you have to act fast. Good deals don't last long. Rick H. GA.

I had a similar situation but acted immediately. Two collegues came back from lunch and told me about a Farmall Cub at a yard sale 2 miles from the office, $250. I went and looked, made a deposit, went home (10 miles one way) and got my truck and trailer, loaded the non-running tractor and drove into the parking lot at work. I stayed a little late to make up the time and hauled my new find home.
I got a call from the seller, they wondered if I wanted any attachments. Yup. I bought them too.
I've since sold it all. No space and got good price.
Gotta jump at opportunity as long as the cliff is not too steep. grin

Yep, if it is a deal you better buy it before someone else does. Went to look at a plow for my 8N last summer, and sitting next to it was a 1971 Deere 3020 wide front diesel with 1700 hours on it. The guy mentioned that this was an estate his wife had inherited and everything in the shed was for sale. Out of curiosity I asked how much he wanted for the 3020 Deere. He said well we were asking $2,500 but I will take $2,000 for it if you buy it today. I didn't have to think twice about that one. I wrote the man a check, and called a friend who owns a wrecker service to come pick it up on a rollback that afternoon! Figured I better get that thing before the guy changed his mind!
