Is there any easy way to test if the governer is working properly?

When going up a hill, the tractor makes it, but it doesn't seem to speed up much

What Dell says..... and, on flat ground, 2/3's throttle, ease down on both brakes at the same time; RPM's should increase. These damn governors are the Swiss watch of the N series. Adjustments account for a lot of the problem, as well as they just wear out. It's easier to find out if it's worn out; just undo 2 bolts and the oil line, remove the linkage, and open it up. Just make sure you put the SHORT bolt back in the TOP!

Ron..... ....theres a number of reasons why you might have problems with lack of power when going uphill. Governor is only one of them.

I test a governor by setting the hand throttle to about 2/3's, and then standing along side the carb, I hand goose the governor to carb throttle rod for more rpms, does it fight me? if'n yes, governor's probably ok..... .....Dell
