The hydralic lift comes up when the tractor is cold, and when the tractor warms up the lift will not come up.

Should I check the check (saftey relief valve) valve and the piston on the lift.

If, so, how do I get to the piston and relief valve and test them?

Paul..... ....as you might of guessed, there is some relationship between oil tempature and your stated complaint. Oil when cold is thick, (called viscosity) thick oil doesn't flow fast, (that should be obvious) HOT oil is thin, thin oil will find it eazy to escape thru worn clearances or broken parts.

What to do? Remove your 6" round hydraulic dipstick plate. Try lifting something and look up inside yer hydraulic chamber for "squirts". Most likely it'll be yer hydraulic piston rings. Recommend the NAA "O-ring" hydraulic piston ($25 cheap) as a replacement for your 3-ring N-piston.

You really should get your very own personal copy of the I&T FO-4 repair manual. Available at sponsors of this great N-Board, most agricultural emporiums. Amazon.com, www.n-news.com also has great archive of 3-point implement manuals. Even my local John (byte my tongue) Deere parts counter has it on display for sale. And can you believe most Ford/New Holland dealers sell it, isn't that amazing? $27 cheap, gettcha one and read all about it..... ....respectfully, Dell

Dell, My hydraulics yesterday, after warmed up, would only lift my bucket up about a foot from the ground. Then this morning, even when cold, would still only lift it about a foot. Is my problem the same? Again, I want to express my gratitude for all of your input on this board. I have learned much by reading your entries. I do have the I & T FO-4 repair manual. Steve SA
