Is it worth putting a front end loader on a 9N. Does it have the power and is the bucket big enough to make it worth it. I would like to hear both positive and negative opinions on this.

I had a trip bucket loader on my 2n.
It was gravity down and powered through the tractors hydraulics. Two reasons for taking it off....
It ruins the looks of my tractor since it will be restored and most likely will see parade duty.
It was not too practical for my acre and a half.
Why I will miss it.....
It could lift anything I wanted! I am always moving engines and other heavy items. Real handy for picking up things high and putting it in the pickup box. Most folks complain about the slow movement of the tractor powered units. I liked it since most of my projects involved lifting objects, which is best done slowly with care.
I sold mine once ($450), It didnt fit his Hundred series tractor so I told him I would help him sell it to someone else. Hint hint.
Good luck.

I have a loader on my 9n. I have used it to put in a new lawn, move numerous items around, lift shingles on the roof, take the boat lifts out in the fall, put rock along the shoreline, etc etc.

You have to have counter weight on the back, and even then it can be hard to steer with a bucket full of dirt.

If your use it occasionally like me, and you don't wnat to spent a fortune, it seems to be a good alternative. I have a single 2 way cylinder on the bucket and I replaced the front mount hydraulic pump.

Good Luck,

Depends on your intended use.

Things to think about are this: Front end isn't as beefy as the newer 4wd models, so the loader adds stress via weight onto it. In and of itself.. not a show killer. Many many loaders were added to N's... Especially if you intend it for lighter use.. like a maneuer fork.. or grove bucket.
Many of these loaders are power up, gravity down, and trip lever to dump.
Incedential farm us would be ok.. comercial use... look for another tractor.

Might want to go with as wide a front tire as possible to spread some of the load.. Steering will become a bit more dificult.

Next is the hyds. If you get a loader.. resist the temptation to tap into the N's built in hyd test port.. the 1700 psi 2.9 gpm pump just isn't up to it.. nor does it supply good volume for a loader. Raises all sorts of concerns.. especailly for the relief valve on the pump. Would be better to use an aux pump.. like a front mounted 'stinger' pump.. or possibly even the remote provided by a live thang.. though I'm nt sure the flow characteristics are much better on that.

Others will chime in with more info I'm sure.

Like the others have said,A loader is handy for a lot of things, but It`s not good for heavy use, or every day use.

Thats why it`s important to keep another N or 2 around for other uses.
