I have split my 8N tractor and have removed clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing, everything was going well UNTIL I tried to remove pilot bearing. Does anyone know an easy way to remove bearing? OR Do I have to remove flywheel? It's about 6 o'clock here in Ontario, Canada, minus 20 degrees centigrate which equals minus 5 degrees F. So I think I am finished for the day and am going to put my feet up and have a JD #7.
ONT RICK Thanks

The old trick i always use is to find a shaft or drift punch that slides into bearing. You fill the bearing with your grease gun, then take the punch put it up to bearing hole and give it a good smack with your favorite large hammer, this creates hydralic pressure behind bearing and pops it right out.The key is to have a drift punch that just slides into brg, without too much slop.Hope this helps, its always worked for me!

Pull the flywheel and knock it out from the back. No sweat. (Too cold)

The easiest way is with a pilot bearing puller, but if you don't have one of those, you might try a bolt with a head just small enough to fit in the hole, put a chain on the bolt with a nut, chain has to be long enough to get a 2 pound hammer head in, that will be a make shift slidehammer. If that don't work, take the flywheel off. HTH Jim
