Lots of emotion going on but after the dust settles Zane has options. He is hearing a lot of bitc*ing but is not getting much in the way of actionable suggestions.
1- Do nothing and let the market continue to purchase from him. His market is a shrinking market, as there are no more 9/2N's being produced. For every one he sells, there is one less potential customer.
2- Raise his price and profit while the market exists. As he raises his price others will enter the market and compete with him. 3- Lower his price to increase volume and discourage others from entering the market
4- Sell the plans to profit from those not willing to purchase but willing to make it themselves.
5- Give away the plans for the betterment of the 9/2N community and sell units for those without the wherewith all to make it themselves.
6- I'm sure he and others can think of other options.

Everyone would agree that his market is limited and short term- He reaped the most profit (how ever much or little that is) he will get over the past few years. His profit will now begin to dwindle unless he comes up with another strategy to get more from the idea. What Zane needs to do is not listen to all the emmotional BS and think business like. Remember everyone, it's the American way, capitalism, competition, progress, best man wins, etc.

I work for a national manufacturer and can attest to the problems of putting a problem out. The above comments are right to the point. I would copy one of these items in a heartbeat but MOST others in todays society would not have the equipment, time, materials or knowledge to make a good working copy. Those of us that have built race cars, hot rods, restored antique cars have been copying parts for years for our own use with no stigma attatched. To get right down to facts, if you make a part for a brand named machine like a car or tractor, you have to get a license from the manufacturer. That is what slowed down the antique car repop vendors and made their parts more expensive. As long as the price of this "thang" is reasonable, available sales will continue in with respect to the above paremeters. If there is a improvement available, it should be incorporated into the "thang". In spite of all the testimonials, I and a lot of other folks want to see what we are buying and if we can make it as good, as quick and for less, we will make it ourselves for our own use. It is when you make for resale that the ethics come into play.

I think this has gotten way out of hand.Why not drop the subject and let Zane take care of his own situation.Seems like alot of you cant wait to jump on the soap box and keep things stired up.Another thing I dont understand is why you can't ajust the hydraulics without this jig that he sell's.It's all in the FO-4 Manual. READ IT!!!!! George

George;

Drop the subject and let Zane take care of himself??? With all due respect, if you don't understand why we feel as strongly as we do about this issue and how we feel about Zane, then it would be pointless to try and explain it. fwiw

Have missed the postings on this issue-what is the problems Zane is having? Looks to me like the "thang" is a good product very fairly priced.
