I'm not trying to modify my tractor, I'm trying to replace a defective part. It don't work no more! I just want a replacement!

Paul,
For a few dollars more you can get a brand new starter by LUCAS. I got one from the New Holland dealer in upstate NY for 99.000. and no core required. They claim it is made by Lucas but there was no stamping of brand name anywhere. Works like a charm though. Funny thing their rebuilts were 129 and you have to return a core, but the new one was 99. Figure that out.

Paul,
A currection on my previious post. The brand new LUCAS starter doe NOT include the starter drive assembly(BENDIX). For this starter you would need to reuse your own Bendix assembly which obviously is what you need. Sorry for the bad info.

Click on "Tractor Parts" on this page; they have them for $38, but it doesn't say if they are the new model or not. I got the new model drive from my local New Holland dealer; seems like it was $60. The parts counter folks warned me not to pull it apart; just slip it on the shaft as it comes out of the box, and drive the pin in.
