Hey guys!

Had to clear out a lot of stuff last Friday (it was our township's "junk day"). I've been hoarding several (try four!) old riding mowers in various stages of disassembly and deterioration for a while now, and the wife was ready to kill me because of the "junky" look of our wooded area (junk? JUNK!!!). Oh well, to keep the peace, I decided to take off work and deal with it. My dad (a spry 85) helped me. We loaded a lot of miscellaneous stuff, then finally unearthed (yeah, they had sunk into the turf) the four mowers. They were too heavy to lift into the back of the pickup (at least for us), so I unhooked the bush hog from the 8N and hooked up the gin pole. I was sceptical as to how well it would do with the heavy mowers. Surprise! It lifted them easily, and turned an otherwise back-straining, cuss-word-laced event into a cakewalk! We loaded two loads of "treasures" up in record time and were done before we knew it. Thank you, 8N and gin pole!

Ron

I found one at an auction a few weeks back that had feet that sit on the ground to keep tractor on all fours, and the lift was achieved thru a hydraulic cylinder on the boom,it was pretty slick, but i had to leave it there :-( But I've had one of the normal type for my N for many years and use it all the time. I actually used mine once to put a 350 chevy in a camaro, but i can't actually recommend this practice.

This was for a Post Hole Digger. I just modified it to work for a boom pole. It can lift over 1,000 lbs no problem very strong design. Mark H.

I have had my boom for about 15 years now and have found it to be one of the handiest implements I own.

This may be a stupid question, but here goes.
What exactly is a "gin pole"?
Thanks....Randy

This is one I made for going on my rear blade. It has a hand winch for raising stuff up. I can lift around 1,000 lbs with it. Got tired of removing the blade to put one on so I used a slip/in reciver hitch method to put it on fast when needed. Mark H.

Just another name for a "boom" pole. That handy dandy three point hitch attachment that acts like a small crane or hoist. One of the better under 100 buck investments you can make for your tractor.
