Nice 8n.. what is it.. at 51 or 52?

And very nice JD...what year? 42?

Nice fenders.. do you know if they were oem or added later?

Mine has no fenders.. not sure I will add any unless i can find a 'correct pair, as my tractor as far as I can tell is 99% original. The only mods it has is someone added quick disconnect lines next to the oem hyd ports inthe powertroll area.. though the oem ones still work.. etc..

Keep the pics coming!

the 8n is a 52, starts on a dime, still with original 6 volt system, this came off of a farm that was raising horses,, so it was never abused, The boys 11-6 love it,, and the B is a 39,, I believe the fenders are original as everything else seems to be But I never saw them with fenders either, this has no hyd only a pto and an original draw bar, so I have some reading to do on the deeres now,, I think it keeps us going to have a few different names in the barn,, and they all are different, This is the first tractor I have that is hand start to, there is no starter,, but it starts easily unless I flood it, then it can tire a man out fast,, done thast a few times already, all these tractors have there sweet spot for starting though, I am learning that

John deere still prints manuals for the B. If you call in to their 'fullfillment center' you can order the manual or manual on cd.. just need your serial number. I orderd mine.. cost 95$ but it is an inch thick.. and includes the service manual sections. The cd version is only 50 bucks.

Also.. if you havn't already.. go to a farm store and buy the 'green magazine' it is the jd official magazine.. tons of stuff in there.. lots of numbers and parts houses.
It has the # to the manual center.. the JD website has the # too.

Will your unit accept a starter.. or is it a hand crank only model.... some could be equipped with one... Mine is electric start...
I just converted it back to 6v and hooked up the genny.. as someone had dropped in a 12v battery and disconnected the genny.. has a wico 'C' magneto... starts pretty easy too.

lets keep in touch. you can find my email address unhid at the top. Our b's are different vintage.. but there are lots of things in common we can help each other with i'm sure.

( nice to meet you )

Good company... I've got 3 fords.. and one jd, and an IH..

Would love to see pics of that B.

Easiest way is to go snap the pic, make sure the size is less than 100k in jpg form.

Go to the tractor photos section on the upper left side.. it will prompt you to enter some info, then you will be taken to a screen to get a browser window.. select your file to upload, and then start he upload... once there it will ask you to confirm, etc..

After it has been added, right click on the photo, and jot down the address it gives you.. it will be something like:
Link

In fact.. it will be exactly that address.. except the file name/number will be different..

Anyway.. get back to the discussions.. enter a message, and in the optional image url, enter that address.. now the pic will link in your post.

Good luck
