Just finished replacing hydraulic fluid in my 50 8N. Used traveler brand from TSC. The old jug I had said gl-5, and the new jug said gl-1. They both said they were for old ford tractors. Any problem mixing them ? I've had this tractor almost 30 years and the three point has always kind of stuttered when raising, almost like it's slipping or something. Is this normal for these to do this , or can it be fixed. Works good otherwise. Thanks in advance.

John, is the gl-1 good to use "all year" in my 8N?
It gets pretty cold up here in the north. Will this gl-1 be ok to use in the winter also?
Thanks in advance

Not sure how far north your talking, but it can get cold in N. central Illinois. I use GL-1 and on mine, it needs to warm up abit before you use it. Amount of time varries w/temp, could also vary w/machine. I've got to many leaks right now to use the 134 fluid.
FWIW.....don t. ....

the gl-1 is the correct oil for the n series. the gl-5 is supposed to have bad side effects.
