Bought it not running, trying to get running.Has new plugs. It has fuel (plugs are wet).No spark from coil. Has what looks like a resistor that is limiting voltage from 12 to 6. Any ideas?

thanks Alan

Do like Dell says.. 'follow the volts'. Get your test light, and start at the battery.. then check to see if ya got power past the ignition switch.. check past each resistor , and finally at the coil.. and then with the points opening and closing.

Make sure you have real solid core copper plug wires.. not the modern anti-radio static carbon core wires.

Check all ignition components.. like cap and rotor for condition and wear.

Alan..... ...really hard to say, but $10 will buy you a cheapie voltmeter or $2.50 will buy a testlight probe and then you'll know if'n ya gots electrons going to your sparkie coil and I won't haffta be demonstraiting my amazing powers of mind reading.

Howsomevers, if'n ya gotts sparkies and it still won't start, change to NEW sparkies AGAIN. Modern no-lead gasoline does strange things to wet sparkies and they won't sparkle..... ..Dell
