Oil Screen

My tractor came without the oil screen on the drain plug and I ordered a new plug from Don. I just went to put it in and it does not want to fit. Does the screen slide up inside of the oil pickup tube? I crawled underneath and noticed that the pickup is not centered over the drain plug. If it is supposed to slide up inside the tube, can I gently try to bend the pickup tube? (I know it is silver soldered and is kind of delicate)

Thanks

Pat

I tried to align the pickup tube with the hole and I picked up a knock. I didn't bend it very far, maybe a 1/4". The pickup tube is really close to the rotating rod caps.

The screen is supposed to fit around the oil pickup tube. Sometimes these tubes come loose from the pump (Ouch) and are re-silver soldered on and not aligned properly. Do not bend or push on the tube. Run it without the screen and keep the oil clean. Change it often and you should not have a problem.
