Hello all,

Just wondering if there were any other N folks that also made wine. Do you start with juice, concetrate or with the grapes. Fun hobby.

Thanks.

I used to make wine many years ago with my father. Always used pure grapes. No chemicals of any kind. We tried several types of grapes and mixed and matched to find the right combination. The best wine(sparkling spumante, actually) came by luck(only once). Those were the days when a 42 lb case of grapes was about $3. The prices today are ridiculous. Sine you never know what the outcome will be, its just too risky. I got rid of all the equipment long ago but sometimes I get the urge to try again.

We start with wild grapes, wild blackberries, peaches, watermelon, plums, etc.

My FIL just got me started in this. He (and now I) use juice. I am making Millot currently (a dry red). This will probably turn into an addiction and within a few years my basement will look like a science lab!
