The saga continues. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Had a blown headgasket on 528N. After putting everything back together, failed to polarize the generator. Burned points and condensor up. Put new points and condensor in, charged battery overnight, polarized the generator, she ran great for a day. Tried to crank her the next day, ran really rough. Points are burned again. Could the voltage regulator be fried? TIA for any help.

RON, I would suspect a BAD ground in the Dist...The Points mounting Plate should have a Ground Strap connected to the Dist Body... the Dist body mounting Bolt (CLAMP) must be tight....

Only other thing is the Coil Primary connection
on the side of the DIST.. if this is shorting or has a intermittent HI resistance.. (The Through
Bolt(connection) must be isolated from the DIST body)

I assume a 6V system....

Hope this Helps

Ron..... ....general reason for points to burn in short time is BAD or OPEN condenser. Condensers are known to be bad right outta the box. You can operate your ignition distributor for about 30 mins WITHOUT a condenser before the points burn..... ...respectfully, Dell
