Got myself a dearborn 2 bottom 14" plow. I set it up exactly like Zane says to do. I went and plowed an acre of field just cause I had to try it out. It worked perfectly, really clipped along in 2nd and turned over the soil real nice down to about 7". Any lower would stop the tractor, it was very wet. I think I could probably dig down a little more in dryer conditions. What fun, I was giggling the whole time. Thanks for the plowing info Zane.

Fazzie..... ....don't forget to "paint" yer plow shares so they don't rust over the winter. While they make a "special plow paint", any is better'n than RUST. Go shopping. 6" deep is normal plow depth. Enjoy your enthusiam, keep on plowin'..... ....Dell

Thanks Dell, I have the plow inside my barn and I rubbed it down with oil. I'm hopin' that will hold it till spring. It's real nice and shiny. Thanks again.

I park all of my 3 point implements on top of wooden pallets, never let em set on the ground, electrolisis eats em up if you dont . I wish I had a bigger barn so I could keep them out of the weather .( I get pallets free ).

Fazzie..... ....oil is too thin, use something thick like chassis greese or cosmoline (gack, I can't believe that I would recommend that sticky stuff from my rifle cleaning days)

From the Ford Owners Manual: "Never leave a plow in the ground as soil moisture and acids may pit the polished surface of the moldboards, shares, etc, causing scouring trouble. In many areas, it is advisable to coat the plow bottom with HEAVY OIL when not using the plow for several hours. If the plow is not to be used for several weeks or months the bottoms should be coated with heavy waterproof grease or a good rust preventive."..... .....Dell

Cosmoline on rifles. Not me. Never heard of that. Just some light 3-in-1 oil works for me.
