We tried your kerosene trick to fix the lift problem with the 9N. It was a cold and messy business but it looks like we cleaned out a lot of gunk.

The lift improved greatly in opperation. I hooked up the disc to it and it lifted fine all the way to the top and would go down ok if I put the quadrant down with in 5 seconds. If I raised the lift all the way up and let it sit, it would be stuck in that position until I dismounted and gave the disc a 5" lift then it would go down.

The lift holds great in the up position. There is no creaping down over time like before. It is simply stuck there until I give the disc a small boost.

The lift and hold has imrpoved as well. I can lift the disc up a foot and it stays fine but again, get stuck in that possition until I boost it.

I am taking it to a guy to fix the governor at the end of the week and will have him check out the lift unless you have some last thing to pull out of your sleave.

Thanks, for all of your input.

I think that your control valve is still sticking. Probably has been scored from dirt getting between the valve and the bushing it rides in.

Their is one more thing that needs to be inspected before you take the pump out to fix the scored control valve and that is the spring that is connected between the ram cylinder and the control valve linkage rods that go from top to bottom and connect to the control valve. If this spring has lost most of it's tension the control valve is more easily stuck.

Thanks for all the help Zane. I will give it a look see. Can the spring be replaced from the inspection hole? If I cant get it I am going to have some one look at it. In fact, I will be taking it to the legendary Palmer Fossom. He should be able to get to the bottom of it.

Thanks Again

PS You should be getting an order for one of your Thangs from me soon.
