Three munutes is about how long an N will run on
the gas in the float bowl of the carb. I would suspect a clogged filter. There are three of them. (In the tank, on the sediment bowl, in the
carb inlet elbow) Folks on this board say to
open the drain plug on the bottom of the carb and
check for good fuel flow. I put an inline filter on my 9N attached with a
rubber hose. After about a year a piece of the rubber broke off and clogged the filter in the
carb inlet. -- Yes rubber fuel hose can be a problem.

You probably need to rebuild your carb, but can't say for sure not enough info on what your tractor does. Does it keep running if you keep it choked ? Will it start right back up? do you smell gas?
If yes to these its probably the carb.

Those old carbs get rusty in side and then they don't work well if you are lucky you can rebuild it. But as old as it is you may have to replace it. I had the same problem with my 8N we tried to rebuild it but that didn't help ended up buying a new carb for it. cost around $150 hope this helps

Phil..... ...generally speaking good neoprine fuel line don't give you problems. Generally speaking, your carb fuel bowl has about 3-5 minutes of runtime before it runs dry from clogged fuelline/fuelfilters. And takes about 15 mins to dribble full again. Your basic problem is NOT A CARB problem. Don't forget the hidden fuelfilter inside the fuel tank that you have to drain the tank to remove to checkitt. Should be a 1/2" dia cylindar screen that melts and allows the big chunks to clog the other 2 filters. check'em out..... ....Dell

No I have that on a couple of my tractors, as long as you have good flow out of it to the carb it works well. If you end up needing a carb e-mail me and I'll give you a phone number of a place that has them
