I am trying to convert my 41 9n to 12v, with a 7127 63amp chev alternator. The 5/8" belt on the 9N does not fit in the pulley on the alternator at all. Can I use a 1/2" belt instead? it seems to fit ok in the waterpump and crank pulley without bottoming out, but i thought i might ask for some other opinions, otherwise i could bore out a common 5/8 belt pulley for 5/8 keyed shaft to fit the 11/16 shaft on the alternator, but i'd rather not, and getting the hole centered on the pulley might be difficult.

another idea i've been thinking about is attaching a spare hydraulic pump on the front to get live hydraulics on my n, its still got the original pressed crank pulley, and my ford/NH dealer wanted $100 for the pulley, $77 for the stinger hub, and $100 for the stinger hub shaft for a front mount pump, which really isnt worth it to me. Does anybody know a cheaper way of doing this? also the spare pump i have is a bit odd, the shaft on it is 3/4" o.d. with 11 splines, havent been able to find any hubs that fit it to go to standard 3/4" keyed

All most any alternator starter shop will have the pully you need. they may have it here. NH dealer should have it. You need to put the wright pully on the alt. the ones i have got were $15.00

Find a GM GENERATOR with a pulley of the correct width. The generator pulley will have a heyway, but just ignore the keyway, and it will fit the alternator shaft just fine.

I have seen machined crank pulleys for sale on some of the sites that can't be posted here, and also on ebay, for $35.00 and up, but I have not seen more reasonable pricing for the shaft and hubs.

Email me direct if you need a URL for a more reasonable crank pulley/
