Are all overseas offers scams? I put a tractor ad in the classifieds recently and got a response
from the UK. I don't plan on following up on it
as I sure couldn't afford a rip off right now. I
was just wondering if anyone has successfully
sold anything overseas.

Why can't someone print up some bogus cashiers checks so we can give them a taste of their own medicine. When they send you a bad check...send them back a bad one. Maybe they'd cash it...spend it on drugs only to find out later that it was bogus and the bank president or the drug dealer would kill them and we wouldn't have to worry about him again. Do you think an American judge would prosecute you for this? I'll bet theres a few ornery azzes that would go for it. Fred OH

I strung along one of these pay you more than you want guys. He never sent any money and I never heard from them again. Don't get me wrong If he'd given me the money I'd given him the tractor,I wasn't scammin the scammer ,I just wanted to see how far he'd go.

The only thing about this overseas scam thing I don't get is.

If you wait for funds to clear before shipping how can they get your $$$$? Thus the only cost is a possible bad check fee.

I guess I'm naieve.

They way they do it is...
They send you a "money order" for more than the amount. There is some excuse for doing this... someone owes them money, etc. Then all of a sudden after you deposit the check they are having a family emergency. Someone has died or is going to die. You have to send them the overpayment difference right away. Only weeks later do you find out that the bank can't clear the original "money order/cashiers check", it was counterfit. They don't want your tractor, just the "overpayment".

I have sold things to overseas buyers with no problem. Lay down your terms to them. US funds only. As is, where is, with no warranties expressed, implied, or otherwise. Do ya want it, or don't ya!

Sure simplifies things, don't it? Hope this helps.
