Can a tiller be used with the 8N or should I buy another tractor? I am looking to do mostly tilling and yard work.

It CAN be done but, it IS a lot of trouble. Requires splitting the tractor and installing a "creeper" auxilliary transmission BEHIND the main trans. Several brands and types do this. The Sherman trans in FRONT of the main will reduce ground speed but proportionally reduces PTO speed also so it alone won't help. Tilling is also way over-rated. Stirs up lots of seeds and tubers of real hard to kill stuff. Once they get established, you'll need ever more drastic labor and nasty stuff to keep them down. Best to use your N often with a simple sringtooth type cultivator and your fields will look like brown velvet - FASTER.

8N's are great for plowing, bush hogging and etc., but not good for tilling, too fast even in low gear. I've read where some people have accomplished the feat, but I believe it took a lot of going over and over the ground. Check the archives.
