I like the black but the orangis is not to my tastes. But it is nice to see some creative painting.

At least *someone* has the courage to paint their N in a way that pleases them. It's really boring to me, seeing N's all painted exactly alike. Just what I'd want to do if I spent lots of money refurbishing and repainting my tractor, to have it look identical to thousands of others.

More power to him!

Nolan, I see you and Oid George are the only ones without criticism towards paint that isn,t NOS. I,m sorry for that,I did,nt know every one was such a purist. I had thought of posting some photos of my Jenny,(1953 Jub.),but I would,nt want her subjected to such color-blind abuse, as she is not the same color as the crowd. I,m sorry if this offends anyone, but this is a free country still for the most part, and I may paint my Funk red, white,& blue, if I so desire. I have 55 Chevy, that I plan on painting some color scheme other than the red& white it came with, why, because if you seen one red&white you,ve seen a 100,.. and I only have one. If anyone takes the time and effort to preserve any piece of American iron, then I say do it your way, for you are free,be thankful for that, and take care of our Countries heritage.

I hear you!

If that tractor was for sale at a good price, and it ran well, i would buy it! It looks like it's in great shape. New tires!

Paint can be easily changed.

Now the factors that went into the paint choice is antoher topic!

WHAT IF you inherited an old tractor. You didn't know anything about the history or culture. You pay someone $1000 to fix it up and paint it all sporty. Your so proud, and think it looks great! After all they paint classic cars all sorts of colors and knowbody talks about factory colors. Then a bunch of know it alls on the intenet dump on you! You sell the misfit tractor for $3000 and laugh at them because you just made $2000!! So does the guy who bought a great machine!! He paints it "original colors" and the know it alls on the internet all wish they had a tractor like that!

It could happen!

Well, for the most part I,m sure the guys are just having fun. I,ve seen quite a few paint jobs that were,nt factory colors some did,nt look half bad. The N,s with that art-deco style, are like the 39-40 Ford cars, ageless, unmatched beauty, that really need some different colors to highlite those lines. Henry,s paint philosophy was somewhat a letdown, I figure. I know its just a tractor, not a hot rod. But the possibilities.... There is a fine looking tractor under that paint though, and it is just paint.

Yeah, the original all gray was somewhat boring. As you said it certainly didn't highlight the lines of the tractor.

I just can't help remembering a few years back there was a 2N on ebay that drew quite a few remarks (myself included). It had some sort of fancy stylish grill gaurd, the wrong colors, and a host of very odd add ons. We laughed. Especially since the guy was asking $4000 for it. A few weeks later he posted a picture of the tractor at its new home pulling a hay wagon at a children's petting zoo down south He got his $4000. Who had the last laugh?

Well..Its like you find a real nice 40' Ford coupe, all original for $7-8,ooo.oo. Then you find a pro- built street rod with all the new tech. running gear and fancy paint for $25,ooo.00, and up. Its your money spend your way I guess.
