Backfilled and levelled 120 yards of fill at the cottage this P.M. I used the 960, it's the one that happened to be at the site. Cold today the fill was try to freeze as I worked. GREAT SEAT TIME. I know someone will say "not a good idea to use RC for this job", but you know machines aren't really the problem, just the operator. I wold not recommend this unless you really know your machine. BURT.

Be carefull backfilling around concrete block walls.

A friend of mine once asked me to come over and back fill around his new house/basement walls andw when I got there I could see that he should not fill it all at once since it was on a hillside and there was going to be a tremdous amount of fill aginst the walls. He insisted that it all be done that day and after warning him that I would not be responsible for any damages after it was filled proceeded to fill it all the way to lever ground.

About a week later after an unusually hard rain he called me the next morning to tell me that I had been right and the whole back wall of the basement has fallen inwards and the first two floor joist were broken and sagged too.

It took me two days to dip all that mud out of the basement with a small dozier pushing it to where I could reach it with my backhoe and he never did tell me how much that impatience cost him. If it has taken out one more wall the whole big house would have been demolished.

Hi Burt, Glad to hear that you are making progress with your cottage, Weather sure has changed since September, those nice warm day's. Will you have the cottage finished on the exterior for the winter? Great to find odd jobs for these tractors. Cheers, Murray

Burt, post a couple pics of your project... it's been interesting hearing you describe things. Are you going to get enough done before the permafrost gets ahead? duey
