When you say external pump do you mean it has a hydraulic cylinder or some type of hydraulicly run motor on it? Sounds like to me that is what you are saying. Carl

Phil..... ..the little corner hydraulic pump port is to test the INTERNAL hydraulic pump pressure. You have to chain down the real hydraulic lift arms to get pressure OUT. Since you claim your snowplow has an external pump, not quite certain why you would want anything to do with the internal hydraulic pump.

There are several external hydraulic pump schemes such as: (1) front pulley "stinger" driven pumps popular with front end loaders; (2) fanbelt driven pumps popular with power steering; (3) electric starter motor pumps popular with delivery truck tailgate lifts; (4) PTO splined shaft driven pumps that DIE everytime you clomp yer clodhopper on the clutch pedal; and since you didn't more clearly define your hydraulic pump scheme, its difficult to advise you.

There is no telling what, how, or who made your snowplow based upon your statement that you bought a snowplow for your 2N. Thats wonderful but doesn't give us much to work with. Theres alotta non-commercial stuff that someone homebrews outta the barn and works just great. But if'n it ain't commercially branded/named attachment, no one will know anything about it.

So as much as we'd like to help you, you gotta help us better by telling us MORE about your new to you snowplow..... ...respectfully, Dell

The most common types of external pumps are : crank driven pumps.. these as indicated are driven off a coupler at the front of the crank. Generally good for loaders, etc.. sometimes called a stinger pump. Usually you have to modify the front sheet metal to make room for the pump.. and you have to have the front drive coupler... 2nd would be a pto pump.. commonly used for log splitters and mybee backhoes.. etc.

Others would be engine mounted driven off a belt, etc. For instance, a fellow named Zane sherman makes such an engine driven pump. In that case, the pump is plumbed into the N hyds as I understand it.. though I don't have any first hand experience..( this gives the N 'live hyds.. thus it is called a 'live thang' ). Also.. that does not mean that ALL engine driven pumps are plumbed back into the N hyds... it may be totally isolated.

You'll have to look at your equipment and brackets and determine what you have.. my guess is a front stinger pump. Post some pics for us to help you identify it.. etc.

good luck
