Well, with the advice of this most excellent board, I drove home from work this past Friday night (it took one hour longer than usual due to the heavy snow) and prepared to do battle with my starter problem. Working by flashlight in falling snow, I removed my 6" grounding strap and discovered that where the strap had been bolted to was nothing but rust! After some quick work with the end of a file, I reattached everything, climbed into the seat, slid the key into the ignition, hit that starter button and was greated with the magnificent sound of the engine turning over!! She caught on the second try. Hooray! I must say that the amount of satisfaction to not only troubleshoot and find & correct a nagging problem is something that is hard to put in words. Thanks again to everyone on the board for their help! So everything is fine now...but we all know that other problems will follow!!

Glad to hear you got it fixed.

You do know that as with most mechanical problems.. machines don't like to be in a state where everything is working.. thus when you 'fix' one problem, you are simply opening yourself up for the next one to come down the line. Wait till a small annoying one pops up that you can live with.. then leave it... It'll hopefully 'plug up the line' and prevent more and bigger problems from emerging ;->

( Kind of a Zen thing.. as 'repair' is a journey/process.. not a destination / constant state... )
