Heres a real winner of a question. I am having so much fun playing with the 8N that sometimes I forget to clean up the ole hands. Does anyone know of any good product that truely gets rid of gasoline odors on your hands. I have tried just about everything and my wife is ready to kill me. Nothing really seems to work. D+L helps alittle.
....Thanks....Randy

The older I get, the more I use the the throw away latex gloves. Especially in the colder weather. Saves a lot of cleanup time.

Snap-on makes a the best hand cleaner I ever used. Takes all the grease, grime and fuel smell off you pretty quick. Just track down one of them big white trucks.

for years i've used dish washing liquid and half a spoon full of sugar. removes the grease and fuel smell quickly. my wife does'nt complain so much about the fuel smell as long as it covers the "BO"

Aside from nitrile gloves, or the big gauntlet style rubber gloves, I've had luck with fast orange liquid, or even 'goo-gone'.. both are similar.. and are 'citrus- cleaner' type products... etc

That comment about putting hand lotion on is good too. I've done that for years.. works even better when painting... Vasolene on the hands rubbed in real good ( no comment from the peanut gallery.. ).. makes wash up easier... I hate the smeall of gas on my hands...

Invariabbly I'll be working inthe barn, and the wife will ring the dinenr bell, and I'll be rushing to finish and spill gas on me.. then i scrub and scrub, till she rings it again.. then i know I gotta get in and suffer through the residual gas smell while we eat... as I know that if se rings it a third time.. don't bother coming in... cats eating it already...

I try to remember to wear nitrile gloves when I work on my vehicles to keep all the cancer causing nasties of'n my skin. When I forget, I use dishwashing liquid.

Before you do any work rub some lotion on your hands, don't use the oily kind. This closes the pores off and saves on cleanup. As for the smell, try some dishwashing liquid with a scent. The liquid breaks down the oils. I often had to wash my hair in the stuff when I did mechanic work because most stuff wont touch auto transmission fluid.

There used to be a product sold in some of the outdoor magazines...I think it was a bar of zinc, or some such metal, that when you rubbed it on your hands with water it would neutralize odors from gas, fish, diesel, etc. Actually worked, too !

Any of you guys recall this ?

On the prevention side, do like the doctors do...wear some rubber gloves when your gonna be into something nasty.

Lead-free gas really stinks. Moreso, I think, than the old gas.

GoJo seems to help. However, most mechanically oriented people have their own smell. Therefore, one can always recognize another mechanic because, you can't smell them.

Try squeezing some lemons for ice tea. Lemon juice helps, too, as I have been told.
