Rich, I have a Woods BH750 that I use on my Ford 3000. It is TOO big for my 8N, in my opinion. My 3000 is a thousand pounds heavier than my 8N. The hoe can push the 3000 all over if I try, that would be even worse on the 8N. That said, a bock hoe is SOOooo NICE to have for many reasons. If you can find a hoe that is not too big for the 8N, GO FOR IT! MAJOR consideration... The depth of the top link rocker, piece the hydraulic spring and top link to implement attaches to, is too shallow, for my Woods at least, so you need to check that on any back hoe you are looking at. On the 3000 you replace the top link rocker with a weldment that Woods makes. MUCH stronger than the cast iron rocker original equipment. I would also be concerned about that (the strength of the ci rocker) on an 8N. The WHOLE weight of the hoe hangs on the top link rocker! At least using the Woods three point hitch design, which is a rigid structure so the lift arms CANNOT come up. If they could...SMASH...badly injured operator!!! The rigid SAFETY frame makes mounting the hoe very tricky. You have to line up the top link and lift arms JUST RIGHT. The tollerences are just the "slop" in the pins which is less than 1/64". With pratice you can get fairly good at hooking up. I finally devised a wood frame to set the hoe on that I coud put three screw jacks under. I can then make the small adjustments needed to line up the top link. Then I measure the heights at each jack so when I come back to unhook I can set the jacks to the same setting and know I am close - still have to "fiddle" some to get the top link out, and even then it usually requires me to hit on it with a hammer and drift pin (actually a broken bolt with no threads that is smaller than the top link pin), then with the drift pin in place I can see to make the final allignment of the top link holes so the pin comes out. Rest of unhooking is easy at that point. Regards, Larry
