Ryan, I use a Woods RD7200 6' rear discahrge finish mower behind my 8N. I would definety suggest a 6' rear discharge mower. Philip.

I have a 2N which is closer to your 9N. I mow about 5Ac every week with a 6' Woods finish mower & use a 5' brush hog for clearing with NO PROBLEMS.
I would suggest you get an OCR for your PTO before you hook up a mower.

If that does not have a live pto. You can have the mower shove the tractor. there is a clutch that will prevent this is a good thing to have.

Either a 5 or 6 foot finish mower would work but I prefer a 5 footer. It is the same width as the back wheels and is easier to judge when cutting next to trees etc. I have a 49 8N and have used a 5 foot mower for about 6 years with no problems.

Ryan, I cut 3 acres just about every week here in eastern VA (Hanover Co) w/ a '50 8N and a Caroni six foot finishing mower. No problems w/ the N pulling it. A 9N will do the same.

We have an 8N and use a Woods RM59 mower which is three point mounted, 60 inch, 3 blade, finishing mower that does a real nice job. The 9N has basically the same power and will work fine.

I have used a six Woods three blade finish mower for 20 years on the back of my '47 2N. Works great. I mow about 4 acres as needed in Ohio. The Woods mower has been vey dependable. Very few problems. I have always fixed it myself here at home. The few parts I have needed are easily available. Mine is side discharge because they did not have a rear discharge model at the time. Woods mowers are a little pricey but I feel well worth the extra expense. NO PROBLEM PULLING IT!!
