Looking for advice on softening and preserving my old shop manuals. Some came from real damp location in one of those embossed painted 8n binders and I'd like to be able to use them but they are so stiff.

Rick, I don't know if this idea will help or not. But if you can photocopy the pages and than put them in a new binder with plastic page protectors this will keep the orginals from getting damaged.

Could you steam them to get them more flexable and than copy?

Hope this works out for you. By the way I'm from southwest WI. How about you?

Might just want to check with a librarian. They may have some suggestions of what could be done.
