Question for Dell - Generator Charging Rate

Hello Dell! I posted a question on the NAA board as to whether the generator charging rate on an NAA could be simply checked without going through the lengthy procedure described on the "Tractor Resource"
Was told to check with Dell on the 8-9N board

Ron-- the normal way to check that back when I used to be in the auto shops was with a amp meter connected to a knife switch at the battery, then the engine could be started and switch opened and amperage read. Normally you can just read the voltage and get a pretty good idea with out all that. Seems it was about 7.5 volts at the generator with system calling for charge, that's with engine running at fast idle of course. That can be varied .3 volt in either direction and still be ok.

Ron..... ...I'm NOT knowledgeable about this NAA generator charge proceedure you refer to. I'd haffta read the instructions just like you.

Me? I just look at the ammeter and if'n it shows chargin' I'm satisfied..... ...respectfully, Dell
