Tire question

When I aquired this 8N, I noticed that one side sits higher than the other. Upon inspection of the tires I noticed the rear tires are different sizes. One is 11.2-28 and the other is 12.4-28.

Are there any concerns about wear or stress on the rear end with different sized tires? I would hate to cause problems down the road simply due to something like this.

What is the original rear tire size for a '48 8N? What should I expect to pay for new tires?

Your input is appreciated.

Rich - Rear tires should be same size. Different sized tires cause extra wear on the spider gears in the differential because one axle will be turning slightly faster than the other when the tractor is traveling in a straight line due to the different circumference of the two tires. --Cap--

Cap, that is the sort of thing I was afraid of. I have no idea how long this tractor has had different sized tires on her, but I will get that corrected. Hopefully not too much damage has already been done.

Thanks for the input.

The original size is 10X28 which under the new sizing translates to 11.2 X 28. I paid 130.00 each this year for rears, not including tubes or mounting. 6 ply continentals. I don't know how the difference would affect operation.
