My 1951 8N has a fuel leak at the fitting which connects to the sediment bowl. Should I replace the sediment bowl and fuel line? I have been able to find a new sediment bowl on-line but have been unsuccessfull finding a fuel line. Any ideas on where I can get a fuel line?

Thanks,
Ryan

If it's just the fitting that leaks, put some teflon tape on it and reinstall. I would also agree that it is a good idea to replace the carb elbow strainer, as well as the screen in the top of the sed. bowl and the bowl 0-ring gasket to seal up any other potential leaks and problems. Screen you can get at TSC, the o-ring is from NAPA (search archives for part numbers), but the elbow strainer i'm not sure about getting it locally. I know "only8N's" has it, and i'm sure that this board would have it, as well as the New Holland dealer. I would personally avoid rubber line unless and absolute emergency. Besides, you'll make up $20 for a new line in hose, and special barb fitting adapters to hook up the rubber line. I'd stick with the metal. Some old inner tube material and some rubber cement would make a decent make-shift anti-rattler in a pinch...

Hope this helps.

The line is available through parts suppliers but I would also get an anti rattle device unless you already have one. Its just a rubber button that clips onto the fuel line and you locate it between the bottom of the tank and the fuel line.

Just 8N's has all your parts line is should be 9n 9282-A ($20) and the anti rattler 9n 9121-A ($5)but I would call to insure that those nubers are correct.

You can get the actual metal fuel line from your local Ford/New Holland dealer for around $20. If you replace the fuel line, I would suggest replacing the elbow filter at the carb also.

Ryan, you can use brake line from any automotive store or you can use rubber gas line. I use a combination of both with metal running over the engine.
