I've read ther archives on stuck clutches, but my tractor acts differently. Tractor hasn't run in 8 or so years. It's now on jack stands. Prior to unloading from trailer last week I had trouble winching the tractor, discoverd I had it in gear. Last week I blocked the clutch, been that way for 3 or 4 days. Today I wanted to turn the engine over by putting in gear and turning the tire. Tire spins and opposite tire counter rotates. I put it in neutral and only the one tire turns. Instead of being stuck engaged could it be stuck disengaged. In other words as though the clutch pedal were depressed although the pedal is in normal position. thanks in advance.

You can also use the PTO Shaft to turn it over and not worry about the tire being locked on one side. Mark H.

Is wrapping the pipe with a cloth and using a pipe wrench the way to do it?

Protect it with electrical tape or duct tape (lots) if you don't have a spare PTO Shaft you can slide over it. That will allow you to turn the engine over to check things, set points or break it loose. The wheel works good to break it loose by locking a brake on one side and jerking the wheel back and forth while it is in 4th gear more leverage that way. Mark H.

if its been sitting, let it run with clutch down, it will take several weeks, depending on how bad it is stuck. notorius for sticking after setting that long. patience is a virtue ..mine took 4 weeks,,,runs perfect now.

that is your differential working. If you hold one wheel (lock brake) and rotate the other then it will turn your engine with it in gear.
!!!!! !!!be careful not to knock tractor off the stands when rolling motor!!!!! !!!!

stumpy; My lights just went on. That's the one variable that I hadn't thought about. Thanks, I will try that tomorrow and I appreciate the heads-up on not knocking off the stands.
