9n vs. 8n Hub Spindle

I am putting a set of 8n hubs on my newly acquired 9n since it will have a Wagner loader mounted and I wanted a more rugged hub/rim assembly. My question is, if I take the 8n complete hub assembly (bearings, seals, cups, etc.) will it seal correctly on the 9n spindle? I have taken off the 8n spindle and it mounts fine in the 9n hub. However, the 9n hub has a donut inner seal with a thin, larger washer type seal right at the interface of the spindle to inner hub. The 8n has a stepped donut inner seal and does not have the thin, washer type seal at the inner hub to spindle interface.

I am thinking I can use a new 8n seal on the 8n hub, mounted on the 9n spindle, and forego the thin, washer seal (?). I do have the whole front end from the 8n and could use the spindles but I'm trying to avoid this since the 9n's spindle bearings are fine and the 8n's are not.

Thanks for any input.

Phil, I am about to do the same thing as you I got hubs and wheels from a member of this board. I was told they will go on with no mods. The 8N seal should be fine. Keep your 9 hubs for possible reinstall later in life. If you decide to remove loader you might want your original 19"wheels back

Stumpy - Later last night, I slipped the 8n hubs on the 9n spindle and they do fit fine with the 8n inner seal. The thing that threw me is the larger diameter washer/seal that came on the 9n but not the 8n. However, when I was fitting, I noticed the spindle had some play in it. I suspect the spindle bushings are bad. Might as well replace those while I have everything apart...

Thanks for the input.
