Does anyone have the ability to post a picture or a diagram showing how the stabilizer bars are mounted on an 8N? I have a rear snow blade and I bought two stabilizer bars from TSC but I don't know where or how to install them? Thanks for any and all help.
....Randy

i've used a 6ft. back for years with no stabilizer bars. the blade will sway a bit; just don't too close to fence, wall, etc. universal bar mounts (axle) are available where you bought the bars.

If you look at the picture you will see brackets below the fender mounts. You hook the bars to these and on the ends of the drawbar with snap pins. If it was a blade you would hook them to the blade instead just like on the draw bar. You need the L shaped brackets under the fender mounts to do this. Mark H.

Mark,
I just got a set from Derek (sans directions). One side of the bracket has 2 slotted holes. I'm guessing they're used for under the fender bolts. The other side has 4 holes shaped in a C configuration. Do I just pin up the bars on whatever hole seems to fit the best?

Could someone take some measurements of those brackets, with the hole locations? I can get the bars and pins here, but can't find the brackets. Would be easy enough to make a set if I had the dimensions.

Mount the brackets under the fender with the flange to the inside. The two slotted holes are where the fender bracket bolts go through. Attach the fender bolts loosely at first. Then, find the hole on the "C" that is most closely lined up with the lower link pin. I think it is the one farthest to the front, but may be second closest to the front. It is critical that the pins line up with the lower link pin on the rear end housing. If not, you'll raise or lower the implement and bend the bars.

With the fender bolts still loose, hook up the sway bars to the outside of the lift arms and install your drawbar. Raise and lower the lift and see if the angle brackets move. If not, snug 'em down and you're done! If the lift is off to one side, loosen the bolts and reposition so the implement stays centered on the tractor. Hope this helps!

Jeb

Hook the bars onto the Lower Drag Links first then find the hole that fits the best on the bracket. Yes the oblong holes are for the fender mount bolts. Make sure the blade or draw bar is centerd even in the back so you use the same holes on both sides. Mark H.

You can see them in this picture. They are the red flat bars hooked to the lower drag links on the hitch set up on my Massey. Mark H.

I only use bar on one side. I haven’t used the tractor to push anything in reverse. Am I putting undue stress on any thing but the bar? thanks..... .E. Ray

I forgot to put both on once plowing snow and when it got deep it just folded the bar! With 2 of them one will be in a pull and the other one in compression depending on how the blade wants to go. So they keep each other from bending in pairs. Mark H.

Not really putting any undue stress on anything, but how difficult is it to hook up the other bar? I just "feel" better running with both in place. This also lessens the likely hood that a bar will bend/buckle under compression. This can and does happen! That would be my main reason for running both.
