When reinstalling the top plate do you or should you use some type of gasket glue? Thanks Larry

On most paper gaskets I like permatex high tack spray. It's sticky and helps hold them in place. I like the line up bolt idea.

I think it's a matter of philosophy. To goo or not to goo. I always put mine together dry. Mostly because you've got a couple thousand PSI pushing through it at one point. My thinking says that I'd rather have the dry gasket firmly clamped between the metal parts. Silicone may be just slick enough to let it blow out. Others will not agree. For what it's worth, Henry put 'em together dry. For that matter, gasket sealer didn't exist then and would be too time consuming to apply on an assembly line if it did.

Yep line-up pins sounds good and a little glue and i should be good to go. Made all the adjustments to what the book said. Replaced piston rings and honed cylinder looks good and replaced cam pin and main bushings, good for another 54 years. This is a working tractor that I use most every day and can't have it down very long at a time. Motor has 438 hours on it now and getting stronger ever day. I have read this board every day for a couple years now and have learned a lot and hope to learn more. So thanks to all for all the great information that this board produces. Agan Thanks Larry
