Is it possible to rewire a late model 8n genny to work as a 1 wire genny as on the 9N/2N

the third brush is actually the regulator on the early 9N10000 and 8N10000.

That depends. If your three wire genny is also a three brush unit from an early 8N with the third brush adjustment screw on the back, then yes. It's simple. Just make a jumper wire out of number 12 solid copper wire and install it between the field and ground posts. Voila! You're done. It gives you the same internal schematic as a one wire genny. However, if you've got a later two brush generator, don't try it. It would work, but not for very long. Without the third brush and the adjustment screw or a regulator, you'd be at full power all the time and let all the smoke out of your battery and possibly ignition coil and lights in a VERY short period of time.

I'll swap you. I have a one wire that was on my 8N and need the three wire...
