Got everything re-done with the wiring; thanks to you all for the 'pointers'. Now I just need to know where the headlites hook in? N series .com 's wiring diagram shows it hooking into the ballast resistor. Wouldn't that lower the voltage resulting in 'dim' headlites? Would it not be better to connect into the batt. term.on the risistor? Giving a full 6 volts to the lights.
At least now I have her humming along for longer than 30 to 45 minutes...

Keep in mind that the resistor is between 2 terminals of the 3 terminal resistor. Either of the two terminas.. batt or the first terminal of the resistor will give you bat volts.. only the last terminal is providing the post-ballast voltage.. etc.

( Yes... hook to the 6v side. Your choice of where.. even the hot side of the starter solenoid.. then to your (fused)lightswitch then to the lights. I hooked up a barrier terminal wireing stip so that I had multiple power taps available. The 'feed' wire came right from the hot side of the starter solenoid.. that way I didn't have anything but the one battery terminal connector on the - side of the battery. Just depends if you want to wire it 'stock' or not... just make it electrically correct and safe.

NO NO No, not to the ignition circuit. Look at the circuit again. I don't have the schematic in front of me but lights should not hook to the ignition circuit. Should be a post on the same resistor block where you run a hot wire and power the lights from it.
