What is the proper cable hook up when jump starting a 6 volt positive ground 8n from a 12 volt negative ground car.
Thanks, Pat.

Pat..... ..as long as you don't physically touch the vehicles together, the starter don't care, positive or negative. Just be certain your tranny is in neutral FIRST, then I connect to the starter STUD, then complete the circuit by clamping on clean metal where the paints been worn off like clutch pedal. Some like to keep the battery ground the same but the starter don't really care.

Oh yeah, ignition switch on, throttle about 1/3, tranny in neutral check again, and a quick pull on the choke while crankin'. DON'T CRANK for more than 15 seconds 'cuz (1) you'll overheat the starter motor (letter cool for 5 mins) and (2) you've probably flooded the engine (dry out or change yer sparkies, AL-437 recommended) and (3) you may have other "won't start issues" that you need to fix..... .....Dell

I agree with most of what Dell said, except I would not use the clutch pedal for the ground. This could cause arcing in the the clutch throwout bearing or the current could go through the clutch pedal return springs. Ground to a place on the tractor that is not a moving part.

PS. Hi Dell, I still use 90wt. in my 8N hyd. Remember Me? Fred
