I RECENTLY USED MY TRACTOR FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ABOUT TWO MONTHS.HAD NO HYDRAULICS FOR A WHILE AND WHAT I DID HAVE WAS EXTREMLY SLOW.I REALIZE THAT THE FLUID IS THICK AS TAR IN COLD TEMPS BUT WHAT CAN I DO TO GET SAME PERFORMANCE IN COLD WEATHER THAT I GET IN WARM WEATHER.

First of all, raise your lift lever and see if the lift arms are pulsating as they lift and won't lift any weight. If this happens, especially if the tractor has been parked for awhile, the poppet valves on one of the cylinders on the pump are probably stuck. This usually necessitates removal of the pump and removal and cleaning of the valves. No big problem, but, does require some patience. The valves slide up and down on a "nail" looking guide. If the transmission and lift area get water in them, they get dirty and stick. Also, if the pump area gets water in it, the lift will have no lifting power and will be slow, even without the valves sticking. The Ford folks discontinued using the 80 wt oil several years ago and use straight hydraulic oil. It works real well, however, if the tractor has not been updated with the "O" ring type hydraulic piston, you will need to do so.
