Sam..... ....according to my N-Ford Master Parts Catalog (MPC), the OEM 9N fanbelt is p/n 9N-8620-A1, 5/8 X 43 for 1939-42; the OEM 2N fanbelt is p/n 9N-8620-B3, 5/8 X 45 for 42-50; the 8N sidemount OEM fanbelt is p/n 8N-8620, 5/8 X 41 for 50-52.

3" pulley diameter is just about as small as the 5/8 belt will bend around. You need 5/8 belt to fit your crankshaft pulley and your waterpump pulley. Most alternators come with 1/2" pulley and need to be changed to 5/8", understand?

Fanbelts are measured by circumferance. You should be able to take your current fanbelt and measure it, and TELL your autoparts person what size smaller you need. And if they wannna know what it is for, tell'em its a Ford Convertable..... ...Dell
