The two brake pedals on my 8N are not in alignment. They are about one half of an inch off - enough to bug me. Is it safe to heat the right brake peddle with a torch in order to bend it into alignment? Thanks much.

Rick, like Cliff sez.....pedals are adjusted by removing the clevis at the end of the brake rod on the left side of the tractor. Use the torch to heat the pin that holds the clevis to the brake arm. Once you get the pin out, the just remove the entire rod from the tractor (the front pin is easlily accesable) Remove the clevis from the rod....don't force it.....then clean the threads on the rod, replace the clevis, and put the rod back on the tractor. Addjust the pedal height to make them even by moving the clevis.

Rick,

There is an adjustment on the left hand side of the tractor to raise or lower the left pedal to match the right. It is a long rod that ends in a yoke. I would not suggest heating and bending.

Bruce and Cliff,
Thanks, but my alignment problem is not in the height of the pedals, it's that the right pedal looks as if something struck the pedal and bent it to the rear of the tractor. In other words, even when the pedals are exactly the same height, they don't line up. Thanks again.

Rick..... ...no law sez you can't "re-bend" yer right brake pedal lever to line things up to your satification. You might check your brakedrum cross-shaft for warp too..... ....Dell
